Morgan Ryder Associates Ltd. is currently seeking a Waste Compliance Officer for a low-tier COMAH chemical manufacturing site in the Midlands. Our client is a renowned, award-winning family-owned business that specializes in various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, flavours and fragrance, personal care, and agrochemicals. The selected candidate will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with waste management regulations, overseeing the proper disposal of chemical waste, and contributing to environmental safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all packaged process waste is stored, managed, and disposed of in compliance with UK waste legislation.
- Waste Stream Management: Coordinate the preparation and disposal of various waste streams, ensuring that disposal companies meet 'duty of care' requirements.
- Quality Control Liaison: Collaborate with the QC department to analyze and classify waste streams, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and accurate disposal routes.
- Environmental & Packaging Regulations: Maintain compliance with Packaging Waste and Dangerous Goods Transport regulations.
- Solvent Incineration: Oversee on-site solvent incineration and ensure efficient waste-burning procedures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for various waste streams using ExESS software.
- Audit Participation: Play an active role in audits to maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Education: Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in waste management or a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of waste compliance regulations in the UK.
- Experience in waste stream management and disposal.
- Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Additional Advantage: Waste Management qualifications or endorsements are highly desirable.
