Description:
The Mill is a global creative partner specializing in Visual Effects (VFX), Creative Production, and Experience Design. We work across multiple media platforms, producing world-class VFX and digital experiences for advertising and brand clients. As a Compositor, you will play a critical role in bringing ideas to life by combining artistry with technology, working closely with a Lead Compositor to create high-end visual effects using both 2D and 3D techniques.
This role demands strong technical abilities, creative problem-solving skills, and an eye for detail. You will work on complex and demanding shots, sometimes managing multiple shots as if they were an entire commercial. You will also mentor junior members of the 2D team, inspiring them through the quality of your work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compositing live-action plates with CG renders and a combination of both.
- Collaborating with the Compositing team and other VFX departments across multiple locations.
- Performing complex 2D and 3D camera tracking.
- Integrating photoreal CG elements into live-action plates.
- Executing complex set extensions and matte painting projections.
- Handling beauty work, car augmentation, and full CG compositing.
- Performing paint and rotoscoping tasks as required.
- Occasionally presenting work to clients and supporting junior artists.
Required Skills & Experience:
Essentials:
- Advanced experience in Compositing with Nuke for high-end VFX projects.
- Strong creative eye with excellent attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to take direction well.
- Excellent people skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Dependable, flexible, and collaborative attitude.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of CG rendering and multi-channel EXR compositing.
- Expertise in roto techniques and best practices.
- Excellent understanding of 2D and 3D tracking techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of Nuke’s 3D system.
- Understanding of colorspace pipelines for VFX workflows.
- Knowledge of additional VFX software (e.g., Flame) is an advantage.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Degree in VFX or equivalent professional experience.
