This is an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking an operational management role to deliver a first-class visitor experience at our unique Yeovilton attraction.

Reporting to the General Manager, this varied role is pivotal in creating the NMRN’s vision to become the world’s most inspiring Naval Museum, linking Navy to Nation. The Visitor Experience Manager is integral to the delivery of the General Manager’s local vision to offer a fantastic visitor experience, underpinned by a spirit of enterprise and adventure.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Support the General Manager in managing the whole visitor experience, ensuring visitors are delighted and inspired.
  • Lead and empower the team of Supervisors, staff and volunteers to be a positive role model helping those around them adapt to a changing world and innovative ways of working, ensuring KPIs and stretch business targets are achieved.
  • Supporting the visitor experience team to deliver our strategic aims including commercial performance which includes ticketing, retail and catering.
  • Developing staff and volunteers and encouraging creativity for visitor engagement opportunities.
  • To manage the Visitor Experience team to ensure the security of the location and all its components, with special attention to buildings and collections, and that the safety of all visitors and staff is maintained.
  • Manage any incidents within the NMRN sites, including evacuation and first aid. To form part of the Museum out of hours callout rota.

     

Knowledge/Experience
 

  • You must be able to work well as part of a team and under your own initiative.
  • You will have experience of people management, in particular motivating and engaging teams at a supervisory or managerial level.
  • You will be able to demonstrate great customer service, commercial knowledge and understanding of typical Museum trading operation.
