Description:
Glasshouse College is seeking a Tutor in Maths Functional Skills to join a dedicated team. The role involves delivering high-quality numeracy instruction tailored to individual learners' needs while embedding the unique Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) approach inspired by Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin, and William Morris.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and deliver functional skills in numeracy, including GCSE Maths, for individual or small groups of students.
- Collaborate with craft and practical subject tutors to embed functional skills across the curriculum.
- Support and develop the functional skills programme to meet external requirements and learners’ needs.
- Conduct ongoing assessments, ensuring reasonable adjustments are made to minimize learning barriers.
- Deliver educational content defined by the Assessment Recording Framework, including occasional cross-site work at Argent College in Birmingham.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Level 5 subject specialism in Maths with a recognized teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, or higher).
- Expertise in teaching functional skills maths from Pre-entry Level to Level 2 and GCSE.
- Knowledge of Dyscalculia and working with students with special educational needs.
- Experience in education or the public sector, demonstrating resilience and emotional intelligence.
