Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Technical Specialist to join our dynamic Faculty Technical Operations team, which strives to provide sector leading technical support for our students and staff. Working within the area of metal/metal oxide nanoparticle chemical synthesis and characterisation experimental analysis at the University’s centre for radiation science, the Dalton Cumbrian Facility (DCF), the Technical Specialist (Nanoparticle Chemical Synthesis) postholder will primarily:

 

  • Synthesize inorganic nanomaterials, metal and/or metal oxide nanoparticles which incorporate a significant fraction of medical isotopes
  • Characterise the nanoparticles using a range of analytical techniques
  • Assist in the purchasing and installation of new equipment
  • Assist in developing automated approached to synthesis of nanoparticles
  • Develop new analytical methods and procedures as the research needs arise, and implement standard operating procedures, performing experiments, and facilitate knowledge transfer to the staff and students of the faculty

 

We are seeking a Technical Specialist with a flexible approach to working within an agile organisation therefore the post holder will also be expected to support the wider technical team working across a variety of techniques and physical locations should the need arise.
