Description:
Reporting to the Tax Lead, the Tax Associate will be a key member of the Tax Team, which sits as part of the Financial Control and Transactional Services team. The Tax Associate will support all tax activities, ensuring compliance with regulations as well as making sure deadlines are adhered to. The Tax Associate will also support the Tax Accountant with ensuring tax accounting is correct, completing balance sheet reconciliations, as well supporting preparation of the quarterly VAT return, annual corporation tax return and other tax submissions.
- Support in preparation of the quarterly VAT Return, ensuring that all returns are accurate and submitted on a timely basis
- Completion of Customs declarations
- Preparation and completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Support in preparation of the annual corporation tax return
- Support preparation of responses for any HMRC correspondence
- Ad-hoc support for Tax Lead and Tax Accountant in completion of any other tax activities, including SAO compliance and resolution of legacy issues
- Providing business support to ensure that activities which drive tax accounting are correct
What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?
- Ability to analyse and explain technical tax concepts concisely, clearly and in a non-jargonistic manner – both in verbal and written format
- Knowledge and experience of indirect tax legislation and experience in dealing with the VAT compliance cycle – HMRC returns, payments, correspondence and face to face meetings
- Working knowledge of MTD
- Experience of working within businesses to understand the relationship between operational processes and tax
- Experience of reporting
- Intermediate Excel Skills essential (Pivot Tables, Lookup Formulas)
- Ability to identify risks and develop strategy to mitigate
- Ability to find solutions, identify areas for change and seek continuous improvement in processes
- Experience with Oracle is preferable
