YOUR JOB ROLE IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR
Over two-thirds of Authorities are now directly engaged in housing delivery, with many building social housing at scale for the first time in decades. This demands socially-minded and commercially astute property expertise in-house. Surveyors and other real estate roles might include:
- Working with internal and external partners to identify development opportunities.
- Managing strategic projects that contribute to the council's growth and regeneration priorities, such as housing and infrastructure.
- Creating business cases, developing options appraisals and negotiating land transactions.
- Managing planning matters (such as Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy) and working with relevant stakeholders, especially developers.
- Procuring, briefing and managing multidisciplinary project teams, contractors and services.
- Creating business cases, managing and reporting on project budget, programme and risks.
- Producing options appraisals for sites and analysis of feasibility and viability.
- Advise on acquisition strategies and compulsory purchase orders.
- Deliver high-quality, affordable and sustainable council house building programmes, from policy to planning and delivery.

WHO YOU ARE

- There are no fixed requirements in terms of qualifications, but we do expect Associates to have a minimum of three years of relevant professional working experience within the built environment so that you can hit the ground running from the start. There is no upper limit.

- You will be willing to consider a full-time-equivalent salary of £30,000 – £55,000 depending on the grade of the role and your experience.
