Description:

Circle Health Group, Britain’s leading provider of independent healthcare, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical First Assistant to join their Theatre Department at The Meriden Hospital in Coventry. This is a full-time, permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week on a flexible shift pattern.

As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, safe care to patients during their perioperative phase. You will work alongside the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe procedures, contributing directly to the positive surgical outcomes Circle Health Group is known for.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, high-quality patient care during the perioperative period.
  • Assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Operating Department.
  • Provide direct assistance during surgical procedures, including assembling, checking, and preparing appropriate surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables.
  • Support patient care, ensuring adherence to best practice standards and evidence-based protocols.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and promote best practices within the team.
  • Develop and enhance your own skills and knowledge, while supporting the learning and development of colleagues.
  • Ensure all legislation, policies, and procedures are correctly applied in daily practice.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for patients, relatives, visitors, and staff.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve agreed objectives, demonstrating Circle Health Group’s core behaviours of selflessness, compassion, commitment, collaboration, bravery, agility, tenacity, and creativity.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Valid ILS (Immediate Life Support) certification.
  • Mentorship qualification.
  • Maths and English GCSE (Grades A to C) or equivalent Level 2 functional skills.
  • Proficient in PC use, including various software and systems.
  • Proven customer care experience, including handling challenging situations.
  • Previous experience in an acute healthcare environment, particularly in theatres and perioperative care.
