Description:
As our Student Wellbeing Advisor, you will:
- Provide a triage service for students experiencing mental health difficulties and refer on to appropriate services, either within or external to the University
- Provide advice, guidance and information to academic programme staff on supporting students to overcome personal barriers to learning.
- Offer support to students who are experiencing emotional or practical difficulties that are affecting their learning. This includes undertaking an initial assessment of the presenting issues
- Manage a case load of student welfare and wellbeing matters, reviewing support needs and logging student outcomes to include communicating with tutors, academic coaches and other central services
- Organise and deliver engagement and retention-focussed workshops, webinars and events, suitable and appropriate for domestic and international students
We are looking for people who are/have:
- Experience of working within a wellbeing or student advice department ideally in an educational setting
- Excellent customer service, listening and negotiation skills
- Confident in crisis management and conflict resolution
- Ability to develop effective relationships
- Use of initiative to work efficiently and effectively
- The ability to empathise and offer effective practical and emotional support to students in distress
- Experience of safe and effective record keeping
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
