Strategy Advisor

 

Description:

The Strategy Advisor will contribute to workstreams across the Strategy Delivery team, from supporting and tracking aspects of our online safety strategy; co-ordinating integral operational projects for the successful implementation of the new regime; ensuring Ofcom responds to new or growing harms as part of our triage function; and maintaining key relationships with external stakeholders as part of our stakeholder engagement and DRCF work.

This role is suited to someone who wants to be part of a small team of ~20 colleagues at the centre of the Online Safety Group and who thrives from having a varied portfolio of work. We want proactive problem solvers who can deliver at pace, think outside the box, communicate clearly and work collaboratively within the team and with other teams and disciplines.

 

Key Responsibilities

This role is varied and will evolve over time in line with team priorities, allowing you to gain a broad range of opportunities and expertise to further your career at Ofcom. Work areas within the team will be allocated taking into account individual strengths, experience, and preferences.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Contributing to and supporting Ofcom’s strategic aims for online safety, maintaining effective relationships with teams across the OS Group and Ofcom to develop and track strategic workplans.
  • Supporting engagement with external stakeholders and developing stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Identifying new and emerging harms as part of the OS triage function, and working with colleagues to analyse, prioritise and recommend a course of action.
  • Developing and monitoring core operational processes to ensure the effective and efficient running of our online safety operations.
  • Co-ordinating resource management activities in line with agreed strategy

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Problem solving skills, including conducting research and analysis into complex issues and drawing out key findings
  • Relationship management and communication skills, including ability to build and manage constructive internal and external relationships
  • Experience of handling competing demands within a varied and changing workload, using initiative to plan, organise and prioritise your work effectively
  • Proven track record of delivering at pace with flexibility to adapt to emerging priorities and shift focus as needed in a dynamic team
  • Drafting skills, with a focus on producing clear, concise documents for internal use or external publication
  • Good planning, co-ordination and organisation skills
  • Experience of working across strategy or delivery, with an understanding of policy implementation and/or in project delivery, including project management, with a proven ability to identify and escalate risks
  • Keen interest and/or practical knowledge of emerging online safety regulation in the UK and beyond – and Ofcom’s mission to create a safer life online for people in the UK.
