Cygnet Wast Hills is offering a rare and exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join their dedicated and passionate multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Located in a beautiful setting, Cygnet Wast Hills provides specialized support for 21 individuals with Autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs, including individuals detained under the Mental Health Act. The facility includes a main house supporting 8 individuals and 13 bespoke single-occupancy flats, allowing tailored support based on sensory and behavioral needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement an evidence-based Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) service tailored to a complex client group.
• Work within an interdisciplinary team to assess, advise, and implement functional communication systems.
• Deliver hands-on interventions to improve communication, social engagement, and daily interactions.
• Train staff and caregivers to promote a total communication environment.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Speech & Language Therapy and the onsite hospital manager.
• Work with and supervise a full-time SLT Assistant.
• Dysphagia management training is desirable, but training support is available.

Candidate Requirements:

✔ HCPC Registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.
✔ Experience working with Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Mental Health Conditions.
✔ Strong understanding of Positive Behavior Support and person-centered planning.
✔ Knowledge of sensory needs and their impact on functioning and regulation.
✔ Dysphagia training (desirable; training can be provided).
✔ Excellent communication and time management skills.
✔ Passionate, motivated, and enthusiastic about supporting individuals with complex needs.
