Description:
Spatial Days needs to recruit a Software Engineer to join our team. This would be a full-time position working from our office in Aldermaston, Berkshire but with flexible home working as agreed.
You will be working as part of a specialist team to rapidly develop, optimise, deploy and maintain web-based GIS and Earth Observation software solutions for new and existing customers. Ideally you will have a B.Sc. or Masters in Computer Science and be proficient in Python. You should also have the right to work full-time in the UK.
Mandatory skills:
· Python with associated libraries (e.g. Flask, Django, Numpy, Requests Dask etc)
· PostgreSQL
· Nginx or Apache
· Github, Docker
· Windows, Linux
· Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
Nice-to-have skills:
· Queueing technologies (e.g. Redis, Celery)
· Python geospatial libraries (e.g. GDAL, Shapely, PyProj, Rasterio, Geopandas etc)
· CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Terraform etc)
· Knowledge of GIS and Earth Observation data formats (e.g. GeoJSON, GeoTIFF, COG etc)
· OGC standards/services
Soft skills:
· Motivated to learn and apply new skills and technologies
· Entrepreneurial and enthusiastic in outlook
· Ability to work collaboratively in a technical team
· Experience across all phases of the software product lifecycle
· Experience of the Agile software development method
· Ability to work under pressure
