Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster
As a member of the sub-surface trainers site support team, provide first line support and maintenance for the supported systems to maintain the contracted level of system availability; Depending upon the training pattern being supported, this role involves flexible working hours on a shift/rota basis - earliest start 6.30am - latest finish 6pm What you will be doing:
- Preparing the training systems in the site for use by the required time each day
- Supporting and resolving detected and reported problems in the systems
- Ensuring daily system usage and availability is recorded, including start/stop times and problems/defects reported, for each supported system
- Monitoring system health, report failure trends, report any concerns/prediction of failure and raise observation/fault reports when appropriate
- Carrying out and recording maintenance activities
- Undertaking rebuilds of PCs including installation and configuration of operating systems and software applications
- Ensuring that the hardware and software configuration and other related system records are accurately maintained for all the systems, including for spares holdings and any items removed/replaced/repaired/sent for repair
What we're looking for:
- A broad understanding of engineering; encompassing hardware, software and systems including servers, databases, networking and software licensing technologies. Ideally have knowledge of VMware
- Able to administer, maintain, rebuild and repair PC based systems
- IT skills experience or background
- Flexible to work shifts
- Hold a relevant engineering qualification (preferably electrical) with appropriate experience
- Eligible to gain UK SC clearance
