Senior Software Engineer

 

Description:

Currently working on improvements to enable submission of applications within a government ministry to be completed as a completely online process. Which will be a significant improvement for all parties.

 

This role will be as part of a team, transitioning existing integrations with the Scanning and solution to a new supplier and developing integration for new documents.

 

Tech stack:

● Go

● PHP, Laminas

● Cypress for UI testing

● Postgres

● Json and XML based APIs

● API mocking

● GitHub for source control

● Docker for local development

● AWS for infrastructure

● GOV.UK Design System for our web interfaces

 

 

Requirements:

● Experienced in API development with Go

● Automated testing with unit testing, functional, and browser

driven testing as appropriate

● Understands and applies security practices for web

development that handles sensitive information

● Experienced with git

● Experienced developing within docker containers

● Supportive of other developers within the team. Pairs on

work and happy to explain concepts to junior colleagues.

Accepting and offering peer review as part of development

processes, and feeding into technical discussions in a

respectful way

● Experience working in Agile multi-disciplinary teams, and

engaged with the processes (refinement, three amigos,

retrospectives, etc). Works with other disciplines within the

team to deliver user stories that meet user needs

 

Desirable

● Experience with XML and Json based API payloads

● Takes a test driven approach that improves coverage

● Experience mentoring and/or coaching

● Understanding of AWS and the services it makes available
