Senior Safety Expert

 

Description:

RWE Technology UK (RWET UK), a division of RWE Technology International, is looking for an experienced Senior Safety Expert to join their Health & Safety team. This role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations across high-risk activities such as construction, demolition, and facilities management.

As a key advisor for safety matters, you will mentor and lead a team of safety advisors, oversee CDM 2015 compliance, and provide expert safety guidance for RWE’s hydrogen, CCGT, and battery storage projects.

With travel across UK sites and occasional international opportunities, this role offers variety, leadership responsibility, and career growth within an international energy leader.


🔹 Key Responsibilities:

✅ Health & Safety Leadership

  • Act as the main contact for all safety-related topics within RWE Technology UK
  • Coordinate, mentor, and support a team of UK-based safety advisors
  • Drive Health & Safety initiatives for UK-based energy projects (hydrogen, battery storage, CCGT) and facilities management

✅ Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 for construction design management
  • Develop and implement Health & Safety programs, including campaigns and the RWE Generation Agenda
  • Maintain RWETI external certifications and H&S Management Systems

✅ Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate safety incidents and develop corrective action plans
  • Identify and drive improvements in Health & Safety performance and culture
  • Support the Health & Safety strategy and improvement plans

✅ Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with management, workforce, and contractors
  • Provide expert guidance and support on H&S policies, risk assessments, and best practices

🔹 Minimum Requirements:

✔ Education & Certifications:

  • Preferably NEBOSH Diploma qualified (or working towards it)
  • Chartered or Graduate Member of IOSH with up-to-date CPD

✔ Experience & Knowledge:

  • Extensive experience with CDM 2015 regulations and fulfilling legal duties under these regulations
  • Strong background in construction design management, facilities management, and health & safety
  • Experience working in Top Tier COMAH sites (preferred)

✔ Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven ability to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and drive H&S improvements
  • Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

🔹 Salary & Benefits Package:

💰 Starting Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 per year (Depending on Experience)
💰 Annual Bonus: Up to 15%
