As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of major construction and development projects. This includes budgeting, cash flow management, procurement, contract administration, and working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure project success.
You will primarily work on large-scale, high-profile projects such as the proposed 8,500-home development in Gilston, East Hertfordshire, alongside complex mixed-use and multi-tenure developments, affordable housing programmes, joint ventures, specialist subsidiary projects, and commercial developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage project costs and budgets from pre-construction to completion.
- Ensure compliance with various contract types (JCT, ICC, NEC).
- Manage procurement and administration of construction contracts and consultant appointments.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on large infrastructure projects.
- Develop cost plans, forecasts, and financial reports to track expenditures and ensure financial goals are met.
- Contribute to design, procurement, and construction processes, ensuring adherence to commercial processes and best practices.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organisation and communication skills.
Key Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in the built environment (ideally RICS qualified or working towards it).
- Strong understanding of pre-construction processes, infrastructure delivery, and the full development lifecycle.
- Expertise in managing commercial and financial aspects of development projects.
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit management team and engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
