Description:
Cavendish Nuclear, a leader in the UK nuclear industry and part of Babcock International Group, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician - Supervisor to join their team at Heysham 2 Power Station in Morecambe. This is a full-time, permanent role with a four-day workweek (Monday – Thursday, 37 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities:
- Support reactor inspections by maintaining, using, and installing specialized machinery.
- Act as a Nominated Supervisor under E&M Safety Rules, ensuring safety and quality standards.
- Set teams to work under Safety Documents/APROC and conduct briefings to confirm team fitness for duty.
- Serve as the site point of contact for the Graphite team, arranging site access and accommodation while maintaining clear communication.
- Ensure alignment of qualified personnel and support maintenance and calibration of Graphite equipment.
- Coordinate equipment transport and laydown areas, interact with regulators, and assist in deploying equipment during outages.
- Drive improvements in maintenance facilities and procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant mechanical qualifications or considerable industry experience.
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Technician role, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience in a highly regulated environment (nuclear experience is not mandatory).
Security Clearance:
The selected candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance. Certain roles are subject to national security clearance and trade control restrictions.
