Description:
As the Senior Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance for Hubs & Gateways UK. This role will be responsible for managing a team across all shift patterns covering 24/7, ensuring the greatest possible output of our material handling equipment.
Continuous Improvement:
- Develop Maintenance Department business plans and provide guidance and direction for the successful implementation of those plans.
- Develop and implement Reliability plans that support increasing the Uptime of the facility.
- Drive maintenance Best Practices: Innovate, document, improve work methods, standardise, provide a safe work environment, and required safe work practices, train, commission equipment, collect, measure, and analyse key performance indicators to improve processes and improve DHL customers experience.
Stakeholder and customer engagement:
- You will work effectively with a variety of stakeholders across the business, including the Operations Department
- Work in close partnership with the Regional Maintenance Team.
- Offer guidance to senior leadership on maintenance and equipment end of life (EOL) issues using ROI, and other analytical techniques.
Budget and Contractor Management:
- Provide oversight for budget development and execution, and capital planning.
- Help manage vendor support and equipment relationships and leverage DHL's network size to maximize economies of scale.
- Develop and manage budget and contract documents including, purchase orders, and invoicing.
- Review, renew and manage all contracts for subcontractors.
Reporting:
- Conduct regular reporting on fault finding, identify root cause determination and solution finding.
- Manage and oversee the Key Performance Indicators for the Maintenance department.
- Monitor key-performance indicators
- Provide regular communication to the business and stakeholders on performance, root cause, and planning
Planned and reactive maintenance:
- Ensure best possible Technical Availability of the Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
- Establish robust processes to ensure quick recovery for any reactive maintenance.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance.
Safety:
- All employees are responsible for their own health, safety, and wellbeing, and for the health & safety of their colleagues who may be affected by their actions or failure to act.
- Provide monitoring, auditing and enforcement of maintenance execution, safe work practices.
- You are expected to report all accidents, near misses and hazards in the workplace.
- You must follow the relevant safe systems of work and ensure that the correct PPE is always worn.
- Managers and Supervisors are responsible for the Health and Safety of their employees as well as having a thorough understanding of their Health and Safety Responsibilities and the risks associated with their area of responsibility.

Team management
- Managing the Sort Maintenance team across all sites.
- Proactively manage and maintain the technical experience and skillset across the team.
- Ensure adequate coverage 24/7, 365 days per year to support the business.
- Conduct regular 1:2:1’s and appraisals
- Provide leadership, mentor and coach site-based Maintenance Managers and technicians in EMA Hub.
- Recruit, interview, and hire bar raising talent in the Maintenance Managers and Technician roles.

- MBA or other Master’s degree.
- Professional Engineering registration advantageous.
