A feature of NIA and SIF project funding is the requirement for knowledge dissemination and external stakeholder engagement. To this end, the role shall provide support to the other team members as well as our Stakeholder Team. What You’ll Be Doing
Project Management
- Propose, Plan, Co-ordinate and Lead innovation projects activity including a sustainable innovation pipeline, budgetary control, scheduling and logistical aspects.
- Ensure compliance of Network Innovation Allowance and Strategic Innovation Fund Governance: proposing and delivering projects safely, on time and fulfilling all regulatory requirements.
- Produce and maintain a programme of project activities using an appropriate project management tool.
- Identify risks, propose and implement effective migration measures proactively.
- Make professional judgements and ensure timely delivery of reports to the Project Steering Group and line manager(s).
- Supervise and support all procurement activity associated with the project work packages.
- Co-ordination with Suppliers on the specification, scheduling, delivery and acceptance of contracted products and services; ensure the customers interests (both current and future) and safety are protected in negotiations.
- To support and Coordination of the installation of hardware, software, communication systems and IT equipment associated with the projects.
- Any other reasonable responsibilities/activities required to safeguard a satisfactory project delivery.
Electrical Engineering, or Data Analytics (IT), or Marketing; or Commercial Expertise
- Accountable for the review and audit of all project deliverables within and beyond the Project directions, including specifications, commercial indications of engineering specifications, compliance with technical standards, data validation, modelling tools etc. with the input of technical specialists where appropriate.
- Point of contact for all technical matters relating to the innovation projects for both internal & external queries/actions.
- Draft, Review and Contribute to reports and papers in line with the NIA/NIC Guidance, to facilitate effective knowledge sharing and inform the industrial standards.
- Work with the project delivery team to capture new learnings from the project to maximise the value of innovation into Business as Usual (BaU) and share with the key stakeholders in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure all appropriate Health & Safety procedures are applied at all project locations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaising with the internal/external stakeholders, ensure that all relevant stakeholders are aware of the project and the associated implications, opportunities and responsibilities that apply to them.
- Assess and facilitate the implementation of enduring measures regarding the interactions of innovation projects with existing IT infrastructure, Real time systems (RTS), existing and new commercial framework and regulated interfaces TO/GBSO/DSO. This will include strategic and procedural aspects of grid monitoring, system planning & operation, investment and business model.
- Represent the team and the company in front of internal and external stakeholders, with awareness of internal reporting lines, communication protocols and information security
What You’ll Bring
- Strong organisation and project management skills across cross functional work streams.
- Leadership skills to manage a project team with complex interface and multiple stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge of electrical engineering principles; alternatively, have in-depth experience and understanding of the energy trading framework (such as DSO, TSO).
- Technical understanding of all areas of system quality of supply and associated monitoring techniques (i.e. the interface of forecasting, real time energy trading, IT/communications infrastructure).
- Working knowledge of project management tools.
- Competent Microsoft office packages (including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) skills.
- In-depth understanding of regulated network business (electricity transmission networks preferred) and its engineering foundations.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in a relevant technical subject
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills to deliver effective relationship building at all levels.

- Comfortable with a rapidly changing environment and conflicting priorities.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentational).

- Proven track record in liaising with industry bodies.
- A valid UK driving licence (no penalties or convictions).
