Description:
We are looking for Senior Environmental Project Managers to join our National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability team (NEAS) to take up the environmental lead on a selection of projects.
NEAS oversees the effective identification and management of environmental risk on our Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) projects and help identify and deliver environmental enhancements that leave a better place. Our NEAS Hub Teams are responsible for the input of high quality environmental and sustainability advice to the Integrated Delivery Teams for each Delivery Hub. Our input is principally at the project development stages where we ensure that the need for environmental consents and approvals is identified.
You’ll be involved in ground-breaking and award-winning work, leaving a lasting legacy for the future through effective collaboration across internal departments, the wider Defra group, statutory bodies, our Supply Partners, businesses and communities.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team 1
The National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability team (NEAS) is part of Major Projects and Programme Delivery. You will find the South East NEAS team are motivated and passionate advocates for the environment. Within NEAS we provide a friendly and supportive working environment with the option of flexible working and many other choices to help accommodate the demands that various personal commitments may present.
Experience/skills required 1
Essential:
Educated in environmental science or a related subject
Experience in managing the environmental risk in projects
Considerable involvement in infrastructure projects
Experience as an environmental adviser within multi-disciplinary project teams
Strong communication and Influencing skills
Experience in mentoring and supporting colleagues
Desirable:
Qualified or conversant in PRINCE2 terminology
Membership of a professional environmental institute.
Knowledge of flood and coastal risk management
