Senior Engineer

Description:

Laing O’Rourke, an international engineering and construction company, is actively seeking a Senior Engineer to join one of its infrastructure projects in Birmingham. This role involves the management of reinforced concrete structures while ensuring technical excellence and safety compliance.

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of 2 to 4 Section Engineers, supervising sub-contractors, and ensuring successful self-delivery of key project elements. The role also requires collaboration with in-house functions such as Digital Engineering (BIM), Off-site Manufacturing (DFMA), Plant, and Design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of 2-4 Section Engineers.
• Implement and recommend best engineering methods for reinforced concrete structures.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
• Ensure compliance with Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS).
• Interpret and implement as-built information and quality assurance (QA) documentation.
• Oversee Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) and temporary works coordination (TWC).
• Manage material and plant requirements, including call-off schedules.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) procedures.

Essential Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related construction discipline.
• Alternative qualification: HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4 with relevant industry experience.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience within construction delivery.
• Experience with reinforced concrete structures (highly desirable).
• Eligibility to work in the UK (valid visa required).
• Professional qualification or chartership (preferred but not mandatory).
