Description:
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead the estimating process for various projects, particularly in the electrical services sector. This role involves preparing tender proposals, reviewing customer drawings, ensuring compliance, managing resources, and liaising with clients and partners. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical services, including HV/LV & instrumentation, and a solid background in tendering for projects within the Petrochemical, nuclear, or regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review customer drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costings for materials, labour, and equipment.
- Manage estimating resources and lead the preparation of tender submissions, ensuring compliance with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering and planning teams to agree on methods, outputs, and plant selection.
- Manage pre-construction processes, including risk assessments and plant schedules.
- Select suitable subcontractors and specialists for each project.
- Ensure accurate cost planning and estimating reflect project requirements and risk profiles.
- Present tender proposals to customers and maintain effective customer relationships during the tender process.
- Lead and mentor the estimating team, providing commercial and technical advice.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of electrical services, including HV/LV & instrumentation.
- Experience in tendering for projects in the Petrochemical, nuclear, or regulated environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work under time pressure.
- Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively with senior management.
- Proficiency in IT, numeracy, MS Office, and Estimating Systems.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE) is desirable.
- Knowledge of Lean Construction, BIM, and 5D cost planning is desirable.
