Senior Electrical Engineer

Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Yorkshire Water framework. As part of this role, you will have a direct impact on projects that are integral to maintaining water systems and improving wastewater treatment services. You will be working across the full project lifecycle, from the concept design phase to commissioning, playing a key role in ensuring that electrical systems are expertly integrated and functioning efficiently. The role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and legacy systems in the water industry, and you will be actively involved in developing solutions that benefit the environment and local communities.

In addition to your core responsibilities in electrical system design and integration, you'll be mentoring and supervising junior engineers and graduates, helping them develop their skills while ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of design, quality, and safety. You will be part of a global team of experts, collaborating across different sectors and departments, all while contributing to the ongoing success of MMB's operations in the UK water market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment, including Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, instrumentation, and PLCs/SCADA systems.
• Work with both new technologies and existing legacy systems.
• Produce and review technical specifications and schedules for procurement, and assess supplier bids and technical submissions.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and graduates, helping them develop their technical and professional skills.
• Engage with clients to build strong working relationships and ensure project requirements are met effectively.
• Contribute to maintaining compliance with industry standards, including client-specific and WIMES standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Chartered or incorporated membership of a professional institution such as ICE, IMechE, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in delivering high-quality electrical designs within the water industry or related sectors.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to technical challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
• A valid driving license and willingness to travel to sites within the operational region.
