Senior Ecologist

Description:

The Senior Ecologist will ensure that ecological considerations are integrated into the planning, design, and management of major infrastructure projects. The role focuses on sustainable natural environment management, biodiversity conservation, and ecological risk mitigation, while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage ecological risk assessments, implementing mitigation strategies for biodiversity preservation.

• Oversee habitat restoration, biodiversity monitoring, and species protection efforts.

• Ensure compliance with environmental and ecological regulations for large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, integrating ecological considerations into project designs.

• Engage with statutory bodies, regulatory authorities, and external ecological experts.

• Contribute to the sustainability goals of infrastructure projects.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong expertise in ecology, habitat restoration, biodiversity monitoring, and species protection.

• Experience in conducting ecological risk assessments and implementing mitigation measures.

• Deep knowledge of UK environmental and ecological legislation applicable to large-scale projects.

• Ability to manage ecological aspects of complex infrastructure developments.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially with regulatory authorities and ecological experts.
