Senior Construction Underwriter

The vacancy will report into the Markel UK Head of Construction Sector Sales. The successful candidate will responsible for underwriting Construction new business risks and become part of a team that is focused on delivering market leading service combining this with it’s expertise to deliver growth and continue to contribute to Markel’s significant growth ambitions

What you’ll be doing:

• and maintain a good level of underwriting, demonstrate a detailed knowledge of company guidelines and authority levels.
• broker generated quotes and encourage broker to place the business with Markel by highlighting our product benefits and negotiating terms.
• new broker relationships through regular development meetings in conjunction with the Head of Construction Sector Sales and Business Development Managers.
• workflow from enquiry receipt to outcome through the Markel workflow platforms.
• seek new business prospects utilising the CRM system accordance with the CRM Working Practices guide.
• coaching and knowledge transfer to the wider team

Our must-haves:

• previous experience within Construction underwriting and/or underwriting portfolios and binders.
• with a specialist broker panel is preferred.
• communication skills and past experience with dealing with clients by email and telephone.
• previous experience with proactively managing own workflow.
