Description:
We are seeking a talented & experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our Agility side of UK Fit Out, working for with some exciting clients to create outstanding commercial office spaces. This will involve both Cat B fit outs and full refurbishments ranging in value from £2million - £15million.
You will be part of a team delivering a quality service and product to our clients in line with the project goals by working with the professional team and applying Interior systems, procedures and culture.
Key Accountabilities
- To take full responsibility for construction of a project.
- To identify problems and offer solutions.
- To suggest trade contractors, systems and manufacturers for team appraisal.
- To review design and shop drawings, the project programme and contribute where necessary.
- To offer high level strategic thinking at project level (lower level strategic input only is required for the skills area).
- To contribute information to the proposal team, if required.
- To attend and present at the “pitch”.
- To carry out a champion role, if required, including publication of ‘champion papers’, as appropriate
- To be aware of the existence of marketing relationships with external professionals and clients.
- To actively promote Interior philosophy and culture.
- To produce precise and succinct project reports.
- To take responsibility for strategic control of the programme.
- To take a lead role in the presentation of the project to the client.
- To offer buildability advice and value engineering solutions.
- Be aware of element costings and costs/ft2.
- Thorough understanding of M&E systems.
- Promote and implement Zero Defects Initiative.
- To implement Best Practice Manual.
Skills & Experience
- Significant management experience in construction industry working on commercial fit out projects of £5m+.
- Previous experience of successfully carrying out a similar role to a high quality.
- General knowledge of contracts (Minimum)
- General knowledge of IT (MS Office, Powerproject or Asta programming) (Minimum)
- Key communication skills necessary to maintain client relationships.
- Key skills in project planning and time management and effective communication to manage site-based project personnel.
- Experience in running and recording effective meetings with a range of key stakeholders, internal and external
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Fully conversant with CDM and all relevant Health & Safety legislation and previous experience of successful implementation on a major project.
- In addition to general knowledge of common building and service trade, has greater in-depth knowledge and expertise in some specific areas e.g. joinery, cable wall systems, security
- Is involved with design teams and trade contractors at site meetings and project meetings and contributes toward the project report.
- Takes on role of mentor to Construction Manager, Assistant Construction Manager and Trainee Construction Manager.
- Works effectively and efficiently with fellow team members.
- Acts as the key co-ordinator with the professional team in respect to the design.
- Be involved in pre-construction interface with client and design team.
- May be introduced as a specialist advisor to clients (consultancy role).
- Strong interpersonal and people management skills are essential

Qualifications
- Recognised construction qualification, preferably in structural or civil engineering.
