Role Overview:
As a Senior Commercial, Rights & Business Affairs Manager, you will act as a principal advisor for legal and business affairs, supporting key production projects across different stages. Your expertise in negotiating complex content contracts, providing commercial and legal advice, and ensuring compliance with editorial and business frameworks will be crucial. You will work closely with internal teams, legal colleagues, and senior leadership to ensure BBC Studios secures competitive terms and manages risks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement legal and commercial strategies to secure competitive deals and support business growth.
  • Partner closely with legal teams and wider business units to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Negotiate global commissioning deals, ensuring coordinated and strategic advice.
  • Provide day-to-day legal and business affairs guidance, covering production risks, editorial compliance, and commercial issues.
  • Manage risks by ensuring adherence to frameworks and consistency across deals.
  • Represent Business & Legal Affairs at senior leadership level with authority and professionalism.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to production teams and senior management, resolving complex legal and commercial challenges.

Key Criteria:

  • Legal qualifications essential.
  • Proven experience negotiating content contracts with broadcasters or streaming platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of legal and commercial issues in content production.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to respond quickly to market changes.
  • Skilled at resolving conflicts and delivering pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, working confidently with senior leadership.

Desirable:

  • Experience in television content production.
  • Track record of driving change and innovation within complex environments.

Salary Range:
45599 to 62099 per month (£50000 to £70000 per annum) plus £5319 London Weighting Allowance.
