Description:
Pen Underwriting is seeking to recruit a Senior Business Manager to join our team based in London. Working with the Manager Director, your responsibility will be to design, implement and continually review the operational strategy of the trading division. You will ensure that divisional targets and company standards are met whilst adhering to risk and governance processes. You will also be responsible for improving working processes, streamlining efficiencies and maintaining clear documentation. Your role will require proactive engagement with the central operational functions within the COO division.
Your Role:
- Ensure MI is collated and produced on a timely basis for internal and external use
- Ensure Risk and Governance standards and protocols are adhered to by the Division
- Lead the ongoing improvement of working processes, work streams and efficiencies, ensuring these are clearly documented, compliant and communicated to employees, and to ensure the flow of data is concise, up to date and accurate
- Build and maintain a succession plan for key positions in the Division
- Keep all staff up-to-date with appropriate market information and/or organisational and divisional change requirements
- Be the key liaison point with the Finance Business Partner, HR Business Partner and Compliance Manager for on-site processes, employee requirements/issues and FCA compliance, audits, including Divisional complaints handling, TCF and reporting
- Ensure that all DUAs/Binders new and renewals are managed and reported upon effectively with the appropriate stakeholders
- Assist with the implementation and management of any process and IT changes and improve units efficiency of all internal and external IT and/or manual systems
- Establish and handle the overall interaction and relationship with outsourced support roles such as GSC, Operations, Compliance/Regulatory, HR etc. so that support is as effective as possible.
- Handle the office and associated facilities requirements
- Involvement with group-wide operational and strategic projects as they relate to trading division objectives
- Develop cross-functional relationships with other departmental heads in other areas to improve the overall efficiency of the company and good working relations
- Establish a culture of dedication, motivation, employee engagement & empowerment
- Demonstrate knowledge of own and company performance data and apply this knowledge to contribute to the achievement of key business objectives

Qualifications
Your Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Cert CII/ Dip CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) qualification desirable
- Robust knowledge of general insurance products and services including underlying legal principles and practices relating to risk within own role capacity
- Knowledge of the operational requirements of underwriting, processing and invoicing of risks within the company and Lloyd’s markets
- Strong people management experience
- Knowledge of successfully embedding processes/structures to monitor area profitability/expenses
- Good commercial experience within management remit
- Strong analytical and financial management experience
- Evidence and insight in using market knowledge to further opportunities and achieve business goals
- Regulatory awareness is essential when dealing with operational group risk
- Excellent planning and analytical skills
- Able to interpret data with accuracy and present findings articulately
- Comfortable and credible at decision-maker level
- Proactive in risk management
- Committed to learning and developing industry knowledge pursuing standards in excellence
