We are seeking to appoint a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to support our new inclusive provision, consisting of two classes. This role presents an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional support to pupils, enabling them to thrive and integrate successfully with their mainstream peers.

The ideal candidate will have high expectations and demonstrate a calm, positive, and consistent approach to supporting children with autism, social and communication difficulties, cognition and learning needs, and other complexities of SEND. The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering a tailored curriculum that prioritizes social communication skills, self-regulation, and a child-centered TEACCH approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEND, fostering their academic and personal development.
  • Implement inclusive teaching and learning strategies that cater to a wide range of abilities and needs.
  • Assist in developing and delivering a bespoke curriculum that meets children’s cognitive, sensory, and pastoral requirements.
  • Support children’s social and emotional development by employing structured strategies for behavior management and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure a nurturing learning environment.
  • Engage with research and evidence-based practices to enhance teaching methods.
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of best practices and techniques for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Experience working within an inclusive environment catering to diverse needs and abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and aspirational target-setting for pupils with SEND.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and experience in Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
  • Ability to implement a structured curriculum that results in positive learning outcomes for pupils.
  • Passionate about providing high-quality support to pupils with SEND.
