Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct scientific studies and contribute to software and system design for underwater measurement systems.
- Develop models for magnetic and electric sources, particularly in maritime and underwater environments.
- Analyse electromagnetic field behavior in different materials and conditions.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Boundary Element Analysis (BEA) to solve complex design and operational challenges.
- Investigate underwater signatures, including electromagnetic, acoustic, pressure, and seismic signatures.
- Apply numerical techniques and optimisation methods to improve system performance.
- Use advanced control theory to enhance system control and response mechanisms.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that technical solutions align with broader project goals and client requirements.
- Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and client briefings, ensuring findings are communicated effectively.
Personal Attributes & Requirements:
- A degree (minimum) in a scientific or mathematical discipline, ideally physics or mathematics.
- Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent research experience in a relevant scientific field (such as electromagnetics, maritime physics, or applied mathematics) are highly desirable.
- Programming skills are essential, with knowledge of C++ being advantageous.
- Experience in electromagnetic modeling or tools such as Vector Fields FEA, COMSOL, or MATLAB/Simulink is beneficial.
- Strong written communication skills, particularly for technical reports and research documentation.
- Experience delivering presentations or technical training is desirable, particularly in client-facing situations.
- Willingness to travel, including participating in field research and system trials both in the UK and internationally.
