This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with the continued care and maintenance of the wide range of historically significant rigs within NMRN’s collection, to ensure they are maintained to a high standard and retain historical accuracy. Working as part of the rigging team you will undertake rigging work both aloft and in the workshop. This work will involve completing a range of rigging tasks from routine maintenance and surveys to restoration projects replacing large sections of rigging, learning necessary skills and details about historical accuracy.

Knowledge/Experience
 

  • Experience completing maintenance on traditional vessels.
  • Some experience climbing/working aloft.
  • Competent in tying basic knots (RYA competent crew knots).
  • Some experience in traditional rigging skills such as 3 strand rope splicing, whipping, serving, seizing.
  • Good team player who is self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Understanding of health and safety associated with working on traditional vessels and aloft.
  • Experience engaging with the public.
  • Basic IT skills.
