Description:
Farrans is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support to the delivery teams in the design and construction of projects. The role involves monitoring costs, maximizing revenue, minimizing liabilities, and ensuring financial recording aligns with the required standard across multiple projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for achieving accurate financial reporting and managing subcontractor accounts in line with the project timelines and budget constraints. You will also be required to liaise with clients on commercial issues, ensuring compliance with contract conditions, and striving for continuous improvement within the commercial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Achieve appropriate commercial results for projects through accurate financial reporting.
Build and maintain working relationships with the supply chain and clients.
Manage subcontractor supplier accounts financially and contractually.
Negotiate final accounts and place supply chain orders in accordance with procurement schedules.
Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
Ensure payments to subcontractors and suppliers are made on time and meet work in progress cash targets.
Monitor project expenditure against the budget and provide analysis of cost over-runs and projections.
Liaise with clients on variations, claims, and additional payments.
Identify legitimate contractual claims and prepare suitable documentation and notifications in accordance with the contract.
Strive for continuous improvement within the commercial process.
Abide by business compliance requirements in line with company policies.
Required Skills and Experience:
Prior pre and post-contract experience in a construction QS role on major projects.
Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
Strong understanding of modern construction techniques, plant, equipment, and logistical needs.
Strong understanding of construction contract conditions.
Ability to assess the impact of cost in completing a programme and developing construction solutions.
Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.
