Publicity Manager

Description:

This is a varied, busy and fun role in a fast-paced, creative and lively environment. Through the delivery of strategic and targeted comms plans, you will help drive awareness, consideration and, in turn, growth for three of Global’s national radio brands – LBC, Classic FM and Smooth Radio – as well as help build the reputation of Global.

You will also support the Global comms team with publicity for new products, including podcasts; events such as Capital’s Summertime Ball and The Global Awards, plus initiatives including Global’s Make Some Noise.

3 best things about the job

  • The variety – you will work on three of Global’s exciting and distinctive national radio stations: LBC, the UK’s number one commercial news talk station; Classic FM, the UK’s most popular classical music station, and Smooth Radio, the UK’s largest adult contemporary radio brand.
  • The people – on each brand and across the company, you will work closely with a wide variety of hugely talented Globallers, from producers, managing editors and presenters to digital, commercial, events and marketing teams.
  • The projects – from the initial idea to delivering it in the media, you will help create, develop and implement a range of strategic comms projects that will secure game-changing national media coverage and, in turn, drive new audiences to the radio brands.

Measures of success –

In the first few months, you would have:

  • Helped create, organise and deliver one comms project per brand.
  • Pitched and secured two features or interviews per brand.
  • Built great relationships across the programming teams of LBC, Classic FM and Smooth.
  • Led the comms for two of LBC’s phone-ins or guest interviews.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Work alongside the Head of Publicity to develop, organise and deliver the comms plans for LBC, Classic FM and Smooth Radio, as well as new products, e.g. podcasts.
  • Liaise closely with key internal and external partners to implement those plans, including managing editors, producers, digital and video teams, presenters and their management/PR teams.
  • Build and develop new and existing relationships with key media and journalists across the relevant brands, e.g. lobby and news media for LBC, arts and showbiz for Classic FM, and showbiz for Smooth.
  • With the Head of Publicity, identify, transcribe and issue news and video content to media from key guests and phone-ins on LBC’s Nick Ferrari at Breakfast, as well as from other LBC daytime programmes and phone-ins. This will involve an early start (7.45am, Monday to Friday).
  • Write messaging and media materials, such as press releases, presenter briefs, pitches and Q&As. Edit and issue weekly schedules for Classic FM and LBC, as well as collating and issuing weekly programme highlights for Classic FM.
  • Deliver comms plans and media management for events such as Classic FM Live and Global’s Make Some Noise Night.
  • Organise and oversee brand/presenter photo shoots.
  • Support the Global comms team with collating, writing and placing the results of RAJAR data.
  • Also support the comms team to deliver the publicity plans for, and media management of, Global’s live events and initiatives, including The Global Awards, Global’s Make Some Noise and Capital’s Summertime Ball.
