Project Engineer

 

Description:

The Project Engineer in Scenario Testing will be part of the Safe Autonomy Research Group at WMG, focusing on the application of scenario-based testing for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving Systems. The role will involve:

  • Generating and defining test scenarios.
  • Analyzing and applying Operational Design Domain (ODD) concepts.
  • Utilizing scenario definition languages and ontological concepts in testing.
  • Developing testing plans to measure coverage across functional and safety requirements using systems engineering techniques.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with a wider team of experts, including data scientists, simulation-based testers, and safety analysts. The successful candidate will engage with a variety of academic and industrial partners through projects like Horizon Europe-funded SUNRISE, SYNERGIES, EVENTS, i4Driving, and UKRI/Innovate UK/CCAV-funded initiatives like DriveSafeAI and the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship.

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering concepts and automated vehicle operation.
  • Expertise in test scenario development, including ontology, coverage metrics, and ODD.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety standards such as SAE J3016, ISO 21434, and others.
  • The ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to cutting-edge research in automated driving safety.
