We are looking for a Principal Engineer - Instrument to join our team based in our Aberdeen (AIBP) office.
What will you be doing?
- To carry out professional engineering, procurement, construction, installation and completion activities in a competent and efficient manner whilst ensuring that the technical and safety integrity of engineering being performed is maintained at all times.
- Liaise with client project and facilities engineering in the execution of the modifications project scopes of work.
- Act in the capacity as Task Lead Engineer when assigned to do so within a project or contract.
- Accountable for the effective administration and implementation of Management of Change.
- Preparation of CTR's and man-hour estimates via the Aker Integrated Management System (AKIMS) where applicable.
- Execute technical duties in a competent and professional manner and in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget.
- Ensure project deliverables are generated via AKIMS where applicable.
- Review and check and approve the work of others.
- Input into the planning, co-ordination and execution of the groups work activities.
- Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning issues.
- Provide added value to the development of their discipline / function.
- Direct sub-ordinate engineers in their work.
- Compilation of weekly reports on progress via AKIMS where applicable.
- Responsibility for the performance of others within their discipline / function.
- Provide engineering and technical direction for drawing office personnel.
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of multi-discipline and or single discipline engineering modifications / project scope of works within a contract or a project.
- Manage the defined scopes of work provided by the contact / project management team ensuring that the discipline scopes of work are fully defined and in accordance with the client's requirements.
- Accountable for the management of multi-discipline CTR's / man-hours ensuring that the correct levels of productivity are being maintained by involved disciplines.
- Prepare engineering concepts and develop into detail design.
- Carry out manual and computer analysis.
- Prepare CTR estimates for instrument scopes.
- Prepare construction and commissioning procedures.
- Review and comment on vendor information and assist with inspection and testing.
- Carry out single and inter-discipline checks and reviews.
- Review and check subordinate engineers work.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests
- Carry out onshore / offshore survey and answer site queries.
We Think You Should Have
- Basic knowledge of design software such as PDMS, Navisworks and Autocad.
- Familiar with the aspects of HAZOP / HAZID
- Familiar with the aspects of Functional Safety
- Familiar with the aspects of Safety Instrumented Systems to IEC 61511
- Educated to HNC/HND level in engineering discipline
- Educated to degree level in engineering discipline
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
- TON/ Rheinland Certified
- Sound working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
- Conversant with appropriate technical software
- Aware of latest technical developments
- Current Offshore Survival Certificate.
- Current Offshore Medical Certificate.
