Description:
The management and delivery of a portfolio of programmes and projects is at the heart of our plan for the organisation. You’ll have a key role in our PMO function, which is involved in the oversight, governance, and reporting of our change portfolio.
As a PMO you’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely collation of data which will be used to provide visibility of the status and health of the change portfolio. You’ll analyse data to proactively provide insights on where and why variances occur across key portfolio metrics such as risks, financials, benefits, resource management, presenting your findings in a clear and persuasive way to influence decisions.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure that change is accurately reported, and governance followed, to support the delivery of the transformation portfolio on time, on budget and in-line with other key performance measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Leveraging our key portfolio data and tools to produce clear and accurate portfolio level reports which interpret data and deliver insight in a concise and impactful way
- Extracting predictive and data-driven reports that translate complex information into actionable insights, that help stakeholders make informed decisions
- Supporting the successful operation of our various Executive Committee and Board meetings, ensuring packs are produced & issued in a timely fashion and clear decisions & actions captured with progress monitored
- Helping ensure our portfolio processes are well communicated and robustly applied to new and existing portfolio content
- The adoption and consistent application of project, programme and portfolio management processes and tools, to help track the performance of the transformation portfolio against KPIs
- Embedding governance and assurance frameworks, ensuring they are understood and adopted across the delivery teams
- Supporting the completion of Stage Gate reviews for portfolio content and championing continuous improvement of our tools and practices for managing and delivering the transformation portfolio
- Consistently effective communication with key stakeholders across all levels of the Service

Minimum Criteria
- Experience of working in a Portfolio management office
- Aggregating information from range of sources to provide insightful portfolio reports to management
- Analysing and presenting data in a logical format with a high level of attention to detail
- Building relationships and communicating with stakeholders across the complete spectrum of the organisation
- Working closely with project community colleagues and being comfortable supporting them with project planning, financial and resource estimation, tracking and control, schedule and RAID management, communication, governance, and reporting
- Ability to work at pace and deliver impressive results to deadlines, often when there are a number of conflicting demands.
- Applying your knowledge and experience of methodologies combined with a pragmatic approach to ensure work is delivered efficiently and effectively
Technical Qualifications
- Expert user of Microsoft products, including Project for the Web, SharePoint (Admin), Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Proficient in data analysis tools like Power BI, and data visualisation techniques
- Ideally, a qualification in relevant project, programme and change delivery methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP, MoP, P3O, PMP and APMP
