Description:
This role provides exceptional access to some of the most senior individuals across Grosvenor and accordingly the successful candidate will need to be a strong and confident communicator, capable of building trust through their professionalism and credibility.
The role includes having access to highly sensitive and often confidential information and therefore the Overheads Accountant must have the highest levels of discretion, treating the data with the required discretion.
The Overheads Accountant is expected to operate within the Finance Centre’s culture of continuous improvement, constantly looking for innovative ways to deliver efficiencies so that the team’s focus is on value-add activities.
Key responsibilities
Review of the P&L of over 30 overhead cost centres and posting relevant accounting entries
Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
Reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and maintaining financial controls.
Ad-hoc support for other areas of the accounting function, e.g. VAT returns and payments.
Assisting with budgeting overhead spend for the Group Team and UK Urban Property business, with the Commercial Finance Lead, Overheads.
Providing insightful reporting to senior stakeholders to manage overhead cost in the UK Urban Property business and Group Team.
Supporting these stakeholders with any relevant accounting advice, for example ensuring that certain costs are capitalised or expensed in line with our Group Accounting Policies.
Quarterly reporting of consolidated forecast and actual data to the Group Finance Manager.
Work closely with the Group Finance Manager and, where appropriate, the Head of Financial Reporting to ensure that high standards of accounting are maintained and any new standards are reflected in the accounting for overhead costs.
Working with the Accounting and wider reporting teams to deliver and embed a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Delivery of statutory accounts, pension scheme accounts at the year -end and liaising with the external auditors to ensure that these are delivered to timetable.
Providing ad-hoc insight for the UK Urban Property business to enable business-wide reviews of administrative expenses.
Key requirements
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Operates with an open mind, working with a diverse team and stakeholders in a manner which is inclusive
Proficient user of Excel and BI tools desirable
Experience of working with and influencing senior (non-financial) stakeholders
Experience of working in cost management. Employment cost experience desirable but not essential
Demonstrates a willingness to learn and embrace emerging technology.
