Manufacturing Engineer

Description:

Manufacturing Engineer required for a specialist machine building organisation based near Hook, Hampshire. This is a key role to the business where you will be the pivotal link between production, design, Process engineering and the customer base. As the Manufacturing Engineer you will support the day to day activities within the production team, You will focus on fault finding, Root cause Analysis of issues, putting in fixes and then following up with a final fix to be implemented through design, process and production.

You will be heavily involved in Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and 5s through problem solving, raising non- conformance's and identifying improvement opportunities enabling the business to strive to best practice and a first class product range.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Assembly Technicians with real time build problems and non-conformance's
• Take ownership of the non-conformances for the area, using 5Whys, fishbone techniques to conduct root cause analysis.
• Support the development of relevant KPI's for the area, ensuring data is relevant and displayed monthly.
• Ability to design jigs and fixtures to improve efficiencies within the assembly area, using CAD.
• Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations to support the business strategic objectives with a focus on waste reduction and quality improvement.
• Introduce and promote Poke Yoke (error proofing) methodology where possible
• Ensure all product and BOM requirements are considered from the initial product conception to the finished result - introduce a "designed for manufacturing" mind-set
• Undertake special projects as required

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum HNC / HND or equivalent in a mechanical, engineering or manufacturing discipline.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach
• Knowledge of product development, standardisation, prototyping and pre-production processes
• Ideally from a manufacturing industry such as Automotive, Aerospace or machine manufacture
