As the business delivers on group-wide strategic initiatives, they have identified the need to appoint a strategically focused Managing Director who will support the CEO.

 

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, one will take on leadership responsibility across all areas of technical, commercial, financial, and operational delivery of all UK business activity.

 

With international footprint, they sell products successfully in over 70 countries. The business operates across one significant UK manufacturing site and are industry recognised for innovation, design, quality, and technical expertise.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • The MD will have P&L ownership and be expected to oversee the delivery of ongoing design, technical, commercial, marketing, and operational delivery for all existing business activity, ensuring for corporate line of sight.
  • Help to improve current ways of working whilst respecting the legacy and history, with the intent to create a more progressive and performance led culture.
  • Assess and review the existing organisational & team structure, making the required changes to up-skill capability and drive strategic vision across all layers of the workforce.
  • Provide inspirational leadership across all layers of the workforce but operate as a more ‘grounded’ figurehead’ who will help shape, implement, and lead teams to deliver short-, medium- and long-term objectives.
  • Instil a culture of continuous improvement, throughout all areas of the organisation.

 

Person Criteria:

 

  • Described as a credible, commercial, and proven Managing Director of an SME who brings inspirational leadership capability, ideally from a technical, product-based manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced in having P&L responsibility and driving business growth organically through retail and distribution channels.
  • Must have experience of managing a senior leadership team and can readily demonstrate how they have driven performance through people will be important.
  • Able to drive rigour around process, structure, and continuous improvement,
  • Experienced within a supply chain, operational delivery, and new product development environment, as well as bringing a passion for innovation will be important.
  • Able to bring sound understanding of core principles of manufacturing and continuous improvement – comfortable when developing new products for industry opportunities.
  • Strong when influencing and steering a well-established and profitable business into becoming more aligned & interactive with investors.
  • Pragmatic, resilient and growth focused and brings a can-do attitude.
