Responsible to the Assistant Business Partner the role takes a lead in producing, checking and distributing financial management reports and ad hoc reporting to budget holders to agreed reporting timescales. Ensures expenditure is accurately recorded within the general ledger which requires transaction analysis and liaison with financial services, payroll and HR colleagues to investigate payments made to staff and suppliers. Calculates and processes adjustments to general ledger balances and budgets within the boundaries of accounting standards, Standing Financial Instructions, Standing Orders, authorisation limits and finance procedures. Investigates expenditure variances from budget, identifies and interprets trends, presents results in a user-friendly format for discussion and makes recommendations for corrective actions. Analyses financial transactions to identify errors and resolves discrepancies, has regular contact with budget holders to review financial performance against budget, ensuring that expenditure transactions and nominal rolls are correct, and that budgets are accurate. Provision of advice to budget managers in interpreting financial statements, resource control and corrective actions necessary to manage expenditure within available budgets and to ensure that financial targets are achieved.
