Description:

I am currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Engineering Supervisor to join our team in a thriving FMCG manufacturing environment. As the Engineering Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be overseeing the maintenance and operation of our automated machinery, ensuring maximum production up time and line availability. Your proactive approach to maintenance and collaboration with cross-functional teams will contribute to achieving targeted factory KPIs and maintaining health and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Possess a strong understanding of automated/semi-automated production processes.
  • Provide guidance and direction to the engineering team, ensuring effective delegation and coordination of tasks to maximise production output.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive working environment, promoting effective communication and coordination between the engineering team and production departments.
  • Analyse performance data and provide guidance to the team on improvement opportunities and proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure that the engineering team conducts thorough pre-production checks and adheres to safety and quality protocols.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements and provide recommendations for implementing new technologies or improving existing systems.
  • Ensure that the engineering team follows safety and food hygiene protocols, providing necessary training and enforcing compliance.
  • Train and guide the team in effectively using maintenance systems and monitor their performance in utilising the systems.
  • Establish and enforce high standards for equipment maintenance, conducting regular audits and providing feedback for improvement.
  • Lead the team in reviewing and updating PPM schedules based on equipment performance and industry best practices.
  • Oversee parts management processes, ensuring accurate assignment and efficient stock management.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of OEM contractors, ensuring adherence to project time lines and quality standards.
  • Be an active stakeholder in project work and capital expenditure projects, leading engineering project teams, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress to ensure successful project completion.

Requirements:

  • Possess experience in supervising engineering teams within the FMCG manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years effectively managing engineering teams in an automated/semi-automated FMCG-type manufacturing environment.
  • Time-served Engineering NVQ or City & Guilds apprenticeship qualification.
  • Familiarity with engineering maintenance software and ability to train team members on its effective use.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in electrical engineering, supporting team members in developing their multiskilled capabilities.
  • Ability to provide guidance and training on pneumatic and mechanical systems to ensure effective equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in developing and encouraging team members, providing opportunities for skill development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • Familiarity with relevant BS standards and European directive requirements (e.g., PUWER, UKCA).
  • Ability to analyse data, identify improvement opportunities, and guide the team in implementing measures to optimise plant/machinery performance.
  • Willingness to work on a rotating shift pattern, including weekends on a 1 in 6 basis.
