Maintenance Assistant

 

Description:

The University of Warwick is looking for a Maintenance Assistant based at its Innovation Campus in Stratford Upon Avon. This is a multiskilled role, where you will provide both reactive and planned maintenance support for the buildings on campus. You’ll be involved in tasks such as statutory testing, basic repairs to electrical and mechanical systems, and general building fabric maintenance.

As part of a growing and changing Maintenance Operations Team, you will assist with various tasks that contribute to providing outstanding service to the users of the university buildings. This position offers the opportunity to learn and progress within your trade(s) specialism while assisting Maintenance Technicians and other specialist trade teams. You will also help transport materials and equipment and work with contractors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out reactive and planned maintenance support to buildings across campus, including repairs to electrical, mechanical, and building fabric systems.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians and specialist trade teams in various maintenance tasks.
  • Transport materials, equipment, and assist in meeting contractors on-site.
  • Support various trade specialisms and contribute to the overall customer service experience.
  • Carry out a variety of lower-skilled, high-volume tasks to maintain university facilities and grounds.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Practical experience in building maintenance within a varied environment.
  • City & Guilds NVQ Level II in a relevant subject.
  • Familiarity with a variety of trade specialisms, and a willingness to develop your skills.
  • Ability to handle high-volume tasks while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, working well within a team.
