Machine Safety Technician

 

Description:

The overall responsibility of a Machine Safety Technician is to analyse existing machine PUWER reports and fulfil the requirements of the actions outstanding to ensure compliance to all relevant regulations, legislation, British Standards and internal business standards. You will also provide high quality support to our Maintenance Department, Plan Engineering Team and Production Teams.

Responsibilities for PUWER Machine Safety Technician:

  • Review the businesses’ existing PUWER reports and understand the requirements in relation to legislation and British Standard.
  • Repair, modify, improve machines as per the PUWER reports to ensure adherence to the relevant regulations and associates requirements.
  • Plan and schedule all PUWER based tasks to ensure fluid completion of actions while maintaining essential production within the business.
  • Provide full communication to HSE Manager and Engineering Manager by providing frequent reports regarding the status of PUWER across the business.
  • Liaise with Line Managers in a clear and concise manner. Ensure that machines are set up in time for the next job ensuring prompt changeovers whilst avoiding high downtime.
  • Have knowledge and confidence to raise and further critical findings which may not have been raised from the businesses PUWER report.
  • Understanding and maintenance of an internal budget which has been developed specifically for this machine safety PUWER improvement plan

About You:

  • CMSE qualified and experience within working in a Production/Operational environment as the preferred qualification.
  • Level 3 PUWER Assessor with prior inspection experience as a minimum qualification.
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely of above) would be desirable.
  • IPAF/PASMA qualification is desirable.
  • Previous experience with Working at Height.
  • Mechanical and Electrical - maintenance and repairs of complex machines.
  • Strong Analytical and IT skills (Inc. Word. Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to comfortably liaise with all levels within the Company.
  • Ability to use own initiative and be results driven.
