Our team is focused on accelerating the discovery and development of novel RNA therapeutics. This work explores the exciting potential of applying state-of-the-art machine learning and AI to life sciences and drug discovery. We're looking for an accomplished Machine Learning Engineer to help us make this vision a reality. Strong candidates will have a track record of shipping high performing AI/ML powered products in production environments, and a passion for solving challenging problems in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Educational or professional background in the biological sciences is a plus but is not necessary; passion to help therapies for new and existing diseases, and a pattern of continuous learning and development is required.

In this role you will

 

  • Builds models, services, and libraries that fulfil the stated API contract and metrics for project Effectively iterates on model design, training process design, code abstractions, etc. to improve key metrics of their model, service, or library
  • Aggressively tests their code to ensure the specification is met
  • Proactively communicates problems, delays, and changes to project lead or senior engineers and asks for help
  • Engages with code review and views it as a learning tool to improve engineering practice
  • Commits code early and often, and seeks feedback along the way when needed
  • Frequently demos work and/or lessons learned for their team or for the organization

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

 

  • Graduate studies in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics, undergraduate studies in Computer Science and relevant graduate studies in the life sciences with a focus on AI/ML techniques, or undergraduate studies in Computer Science and equivalent work history. Candidates with graduate studies in CS and biological sciences or equivalent work history will be highly competitive.
  • Industry experience in software engineering in python and/or C++
  • Understanding and application of best practices in Machine Learning, with breadth across the ML stack
  • Have shipped products powered by machine learning

     

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

 

  • PhD in Computer Science
  • Understanding of modern ML Architectures, Platforms, and backend systems, including PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Experience applying ML methods to problems in the biology or life sciences domain
  • Understanding and application of best practices in machine learning, software engineering, and/or production deployment of ML services
  • Track record of contributing to open source projects
  • Mentality of commit early and often, metrics before models, and shipping high quality production code
