Library Accessibility Specialist

 

Description:

The University of Warwick is seeking to appoint a Library Accessibility Specialist to join the Customer Services team in the Library. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of Library services while supporting disabled students. You will be the central point of contact for Library services, providing advice, promoting best practices in inclusive services, and raising awareness within the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the central contact for accessibility-related Library services.
  • Providing advice and support to disabled students.
  • Promoting best practices in the provision of inclusive services.
  • Raising awareness of accessibility needs within the Library and the broader University environment.
  • Supporting staff events such as Open Days and Welcome Week.

The role follows the standard University working week (09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Thursday, and 09:00 to 16:30 Friday), but as the Library operates 7 days a week, additional hours for customer support and events may be required.


Requirements:

  • Experience in working with disability support in a further or higher education setting.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Aptitude for working with information technology.
  • A strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adaptively to promote inclusive practices.
