Description:

You will work in an area of Pure Mathematics. Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in proof formalisation. You will undertake a self-directed program of research and scholarship at a level commensurate with the current standards of excellence in the Department of Mathematics and Imperial College. Your role will involve lecturing undergraduate and post-graduate courses, supervising PhD students, and managing staff such as Research Associates. You will promote the reputation of the Department, and the College, through scientific meetings and other activities.

Essential Requirements
 

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrate ability to produce independent research and will have developed the skills to take a more active role in teaching and supervision.
  • Research interests in an area of Pure Mathematics. Preference may be given to candidates with expertise in proof formalisation.
  • Conduct a personal research programme at the highest level
  • Excellent record of research, evidenced by a portfolio of research publications commensurate with career stage
  • Experience, or clear potential, of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level across a range of subjects in Pure Mathematics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Interact effectively with the broad range of research expertise in the Department of Mathematics, bringing together mathematical links to develop exemplary research programme
