Description:

Northumberland College is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Learning Practitioner in Animal Care to join its growing team. This role is part of the college’s expanding land-based education provision, which includes animal and equine care. The successful candidate will teach students from entry level to Level 3 using campus-based animal rooms, external farm resources, equine facilities, and Kirkley Hall Zoo & Estates.


Key Responsibilities:

πŸ“š Teaching & Learning: Deliver engaging and practical lessons in animal care up to Level 3.
πŸ”¬ Hands-On Training: Utilize campus-based animal rooms, external farm resources, and equine facilities to provide real-world learning experiences.
🐾 Industry Knowledge: Impart up-to-date knowledge on animal ethics, welfare, and industry innovations.
πŸŽ“ Student Development: Mentor and support students in developing career-ready skills for the animal care sector.
πŸ” Specialist Support: Work with SEND learners to ensure an inclusive and supportive learning environment.


Candidate Requirements:

βœ… Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Animal Care.
βœ… Professional Experience working with animals (essential).
βœ… Teaching Experience (preferred but not required – training can be provided).
βœ… Experience with SEND learners (advantageous but not essential).
βœ… GCSE English & Maths (Grade 4 or equivalent) required.
βœ… Excellent communication & mentoring skills essential.
