Applause IT are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join a top ranked virtual learning organisation in Warwick, tasked with developing software across a range of departments within the organisation. The organisation is at the forefront in the foundation of academic IT services and innovative tailored systems for business and teaching applications. The software that you will be covering includes business management, learning management and delivery as well as research support.

As a Lead Software Engineer you will get the opportunity to work across a full range of technologies. You will need to perform a detailed and complex analysis of their business information and data which will establish what the most appropriate architecture and software design will be incorporated into a solution all while mentoring other Software Engineers.

You will take a lead in ensuring the meeting of agreed strategies, policies, or business plans, making sure systems are designed to meet the key requirements to create secure, compliant, and scalable applications that provide an excellent user experience.

As a Lead Software Engineer you must have:

• A solid understanding and proven experience with Java and JavaScript.
• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases and querying via SQL.
• Proven understanding of web-based technologies and how they work (HTTP)
• Web interface experience to databases and business systems, excellent integration of APIs
• An enthusiasm for working on User Experience.
• Knowledge of security related matters in the provision of Web services and facilities.

As a Lead Software Engineer it would be desirable to have:

• A passion for creating and delivering digital services, keeping up to data with new developments in the technology sector.
• Experience of DevOps, working with Micro Services in a cloud environment.
