Lead Automation Developer

 

Description:


This role is an exciting and integral part of Devon and Cornwall and Dorset Police’s newly established Automation Team. This team enables them to have a hub to develop a digital workforce (automation) to create additional capacity whilst realising technological, operational and reputational priorities, delivering benefits for both Forces.

The Lead Automation Developer will lead on the building of automations which will improve ability of staff in both Forces to react & adapt quickly to demand changes, removing repetitive processes, human error and improves compliance . Specifically, the Lead Automation Developer will use their specialised skills to deliver more complex automations and quality assure the work of the Automation Developers.

Strategic Design

Key responsibilities will include:
 

  • Spearhead the architectural design of automation solutions, ensuring comprehensive documentation aligns with the project lifecycle. This includes conducting advanced level analyses to inform design decisions.
  • Tackle complex challenges encountered during the development of automation processes, providing swift, effective solutions and strategies to maintain project momentum.
  • Champion the integration of stringent security measures, data protection protocols, and supportability within all technical implementations, ensuring these elements are foundational to every project.
     

Advanced Build And Management
 

  • Lead the development of sophisticated, well-structured automation processes and objects, adhering to and setting industry best practices. Exceptional problem-solving skills are crucial throughout this phase.
  • Design, document, and refine comprehensive test procedures and scenarios for the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase, in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
     

Manage
 

  • To be responsible for the development of individual Automation Developers and the Automation Development as a discipline within the organisation.
  • Overseeing the creation of an Operational Handbook (which will outline a knowledge transfer, timely resolution of issues, ensure business continuity, minimise impact of change and analysis of the automation which is essential for scalability).
  • Running Hypercare (a phased go live approach upon which the bot is continuously monitored, until the automation is ready to transition into a BAU state)
     

Skills And Qualifications
 

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a technical expertise for example Computer Science
  • Blue PRISM Foundation Accreditation
  • Demonstrated leadership in overseeing the successful development and implementation of complex excel macros, Visual Basic scripts, and other advanced configuration/scripting technologies.
  • Expertise in architecting solutions with a deep understanding of workflow-based logic and system integration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Blue Prism, with a track record of delivering multiple high quality robotic process automations.
  • Effective and demonstrable communication skills, adept at presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to produce concise and detailed documentation using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A strategic thinker with a methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving, with a curious and investigative mindset and an ability to efficiently transition from theoretical knowledge to leading real-world projects.
