Key Responsibilities
- Safety First: Deputise for the HSE Manager, ensuring the lab maintains an excellent safety culture and all safety incidents are reported promptly.
- Lab Management: Organise and schedule equipment and personnel to optimise efficiency, aligning with business needs. Manage equipment maintenance, testing, and new equipment installation.
- Continuous Improvement: Work closely with business leaders to implement lab improvement plans, ensuring the lab operates smoothly and effectively.
- Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day supply of goods and services, liaise with site facilities, and support the technical team to keep the lab running at peak performance.
What You’ll Need
- Education & Experience: Minimum BSc in Chemistry (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of lab management experience in a professional research environment.
- Safety Expertise: Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices; formal safety training (such as IOSH Managing Safely) is a plus.
- Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, schedule resources, and maintain complex work programmes.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience managing scientific equipment (HPLC, Karl-Fisher, UV-Vis, IR, etc.) and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Collaborative Leadership: Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation. A positive, can-do attitude is essential.
